OUR PROCESS
A thoughtful renovation begins with a clear plan.
The best results come from making the right decisions in the right order. Studio MWR brings design, material selections, scope development, pricing, scheduling, and construction together through one connected process.
You will understand what we are working on, what decisions come next, and what is needed before your project moves forward. While every renovation has its own considerations, the six phases below create a clear path from the first conversation through final completion.
What Working Together Looks Like
Every project is different, but the path from an initial idea to a completed space should never feel unclear. Our process is structured to answer the right questions early, develop the details before construction, and keep each phase connected to the next.
01. Inquiry & Initial Fit
Begin by completing our project inquiry form and sharing what you hope to change about your home. We will review the project type, location, desired timing, and initial investment expectations to determine whether Studio MWR may be the right fit.
02. Consultation & Project Direction
Most projects begin with a consultation at the Studio MWR showroom, with a virtual option available when appropriate. We will discuss how your home currently functions, what you want to accomplish, your design preferences, and the investment required for the type of project you are considering.
This conversation gives you an informed starting point before either of us commits to the deeper planning work.
03. Site Documentation & Proposal Development
Once the preliminary direction feels aligned, we move into a paid proposal phase. Studio MWR visits the home to document existing conditions, take measurements, and gather the information needed to define the project more accurately.
Any applicable fees and credit terms are explained before this work is scheduled.
04. Design & Preconstruction
This is where the project takes shape. Depending on the scope, we develop layouts, cabinetry plans, renderings, material palettes, finish selections, and the construction details needed to create a cohesive, buildable plan.
Design decisions are coordinated with scope and pricing throughout this phase, helping prevent major surprises once construction begins.
05. Final Proposal & Scheduling
With the design, selections, and construction scope established, we prepare the formal project proposal and agreement. Once approved and the required scheduling payment is received, materials can be ordered and the project is added to the construction schedule.
Completing these decisions before the start date allows the build phase to move forward with greater clarity and fewer avoidable delays.
06. Construction & Completion
Studio MWR coordinates the schedule, materials, trades, construction details, and communication throughout the renovation. Cassandra remains closely involved, helping ensure that the design intent and construction work stay connected as the project progresses.
We conclude with a final walkthrough, address any remaining details, and make sure you understand the completed space before the project officially closes.
What You Can Expect
Our process is intentionally structured to protect the design, the construction plan, and the investment you are making in your home.
Planning Is a Professional Service
Thoughtful layouts, accurate documentation, developed selections, and coordinated pricing require dedicated time and expertise. Proposal development and design are paid phases of our process, with all fees and applicable credits explained before work begins.
Investment Conversations Start Early
We discuss investment expectations before moving deeply into design. Early conversations are based on the project type and known scope, while formal pricing develops as the design, selections, and construction details are defined.
Decisions Happen Before Construction
Whenever possible, layouts, materials, fixtures, and other key details are finalized before the project begins. This allows us to order materials, coordinate the schedule, and reduce avoidable decisions and delays during construction.
Communication Stays Connected
Cassandra remains closely involved throughout the project, coordinating the design intent, construction details, and client communication. You will know what phase we are in, what information is needed, and what comes next.
